Process

  1. 01

    Survey

    Live-site walk with FM: agree zones, shift pattern and exclusion-zone boundaries. Capture steel condition (corrosion grade, existing coating system, intumescent requirement). Access method confirmed per bay.

  2. 02

    Specification

    System per zone and steel type: anti-corrosion epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat for structural steel; intumescent system where fire rating is required (with third-party certification); single-coat refresh for non-structural surfaces. MEWP or scaffold specified to bay height.

  3. 03

    RAMS

    Per-zone RAMS covering racking interaction (working over vs. working around), MEWP safe working plan, emergency evacuation with FM, COSHH for two-pack catalysts, ATEX declaration if zone applies.

  4. 04

    Delivery

    Zone-by-zone delivery. Each zone is returned to live operations before the next opens. Forklift aisles not shared mid-coat. Shift timing agreed with FM weekly.

  5. 05

    Handover

    Per-zone record, film thickness readings, intumescent certificate where the system warrants it. FM sign-off before each zone returns to full operation.

Frequently asked

  • Can the warehouse keep operating throughout?

    Yes. The whole programme uses zonal delivery so live operations continue around us. Active aisles and adjacent zones stay open.

  • Do you certify intumescent work?

    Yes. When we apply an approved intumescent system, the manufacturer's certificate ships with the handover record.

  • What about ATEX zones?

    We work in ATEX zones with appropriate kit, method statement and relevant permit-to-work. This is flagged and planned at survey.

  • What happens to the racking?

    Racking stays in place. We work around it or use MEWPs to reach over. Any racking movement is the FM's decision and is priced separately.

  • Can forklifts still run during application?

    Not in the active zone. We coordinate the exclusion schedule with the FM so forklift routes are maintained in adjacent zones throughout.
