Interior decorating. A Star Decorators

When this is the right route

  • The finish needs to read as designed, not just painted. Sheen consistency and edge definition matter.
  • Multiple surface types share the space (drywall, MDF joinery, exposed steel, masonry) and need coordinated system selection.
  • The PC needs a decorator that survives QS scrutiny on the final inspection, not just the practical completion walk.

Scope · included

  • Wall, ceiling, joinery and detail decorating
  • Substrate-matched paint stack (water-based, oil-based, two-pack)
  • Designer and brand specifications honoured. No substitutions without sign-off
  • Live snag list and 48-hour post-handover close-out

Scope · not included

  • Plasterboarding and skim
  • First fix carpentry
  • Wall covering and vinyl installation

Process

  1. 01

    Survey

Substrate walk: plasterboard, MDF, exposed steel, masonry. Designer spec reviewed. Any ambiguity flagged in writing before mobilisation. Sample finish requirement agreed and cut on the actual substrate.

  2. 02

    Specification

Stack per surface: walls in Diamond Matt or Sheen 4, joinery in Quick Dry Eggshell, exposed steel in two-pack epoxy or PU where the environment demands it. Sheen levels agreed against physical samples, not RAL codes on paper.

  3. 03

    RAMS

Project-specific RAMS: dust control in occupied environments, COSHH for any solvent or two-pack products, masking schedule per surface type. Issued before mobilisation.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Phase by surface type: masking, prep, prime, top-coats, demask. Designer or PC walks the line at each phase, not just at practical completion.

  5. 05

    Handover

Photo record, touch-up kit, dry-film record where two-pack systems were used. Live snag list closed within 48 hours of sign-off.

Built for the people who buy decorating

Three audiences. One delivery model.

We are a specialist sub-contractor, not a turnkey fit-out outfit. We deliver decorating, spraying, restoration and coatings under main contractors and direct estate teams.

For main contractors

Hands on decorating. On time, every time, snags closed before handover.

Variations priced ahead of the request. Per-store handover record. AFPs delivered on the day they're due. We run the way you run.

  • Active main-contractor framework relationships
  • Variations priced ahead of the request, AFPs on the day they are due
  • Per zone handover record across multi store programmes

For estate + FM teams

Live trading stays live. Restoration before replacement.

Survey to handover without closing the unit. Powder-coat restoration with a 5-7 year service life. Run-off, masking and reopening tracked store-by-store.

  • Out-of-hours + phased delivery on rolling estate programmes
  • Photo-led handover record per store / per elevation
  • DOFF, chemical and jet-wash cleaning ahead of any coating

For retail estate leads

Brand consistency, store by store, on the date you promised.

Brand-matched paint stacks against the estate spec. KPI reporting per store. Programme that survives shopfit slippage instead of inheriting it.

  • Multi-store rolling programmes. KPI reported nightly
  • Brand-matched Dulux Trade specifications
  • Repeat-work relationships across Primark · Tesco · M&S

Frequently asked

  • Can you work to a designer's finish schedule?

Yes. We read the schedule, query ambiguities in writing before mobilisation, sample-cut on the actual substrate, and never substitute a paint without the designer's sign-off.

  • What about joinery specified in oil-based finish?

Quick Dry Eggshell water-based is our standard. Same hardness as oil, no yellowing, dry within 4 hours. Traditional oil-based is available if the spec explicitly calls for it.

  • Can you do bespoke colour matching?

Yes. Pantone or RAL matched on site, sampled on the substrate and signed off before mobilisation. We carry mixing kit for minor site adjustments.

  • How do you specify exposed steel?

Two-pack epoxy or polyurethane for industrial or high-exposure environments, water-based hard-wearing for indoor commercial. We choose the system by exposure class.

  • What's the snagging process?

A live snag list is maintained by the site supervisor throughout delivery. Anything raised at sign-off is closed within 48 hours of handover.
